dreams playa MUJERES

TARA + JAMES MOTTER - dreams Playa mujeres 2025

WhY DID YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE A DESTINATION WEDDING?

We knew we wanted a large wedding, but we live in Southern California, so the price kept skyrocketing for us when trying to find a place locally and we figure with a destination it would be so fun to spend that much extra time with our loved ones and for a fraction of the price. I was nervous at first but it was truly the best decision for us.

WhY DID YOU CHOOSE Dreams playa mujeres for your DESTINATION WEDDING? what were the deciding factors?

Our amazing travel agent Kerri helped walk us through many options once we narrowed it down to the Caribbean side of Mexico. We were factoring in cost of flights, distance from California, service and the amenities offered. We ultimately settled on Dreams Playa Mujeres because it was outside of the chaos os "hotel row" in Cancun, and the all-inclusive was a MAJOR selling point. We felt safe, attended to and had so many options for our guests to enjoy excursions near and far.

What was your MOST memorable moment during your destination wedding?

I saw on a Facebook page that someone had purchased the "Hora Loco" package as an upgrade to the reception and it was soooooo memorable for us and the guests. Around 9pm we surprised our guests as women came out on stilts with huge butterfly wings, dancers led us all in a conga line, limbo, water drums and fun kitschy party favors. It was truly a blast and our guests are still talking about it! We also LOVED the experience of writing our own vows and made people laugh and cry 🙂

What was your experience working with Kerri and Sunlover Travel?

She simply attended to all of our needs very quickly every step of the way. She always gave it to us straight and didnt try to push one property or another on us (which had happened when we were chatting with other companies). Out final head count was 112 people, but we invited north of 250, so there were A LOT of emails and communications happening with guests and potential guests that I did'nt even know were happening (and I was very happy to be in the dark about it!) I can't wait to use her again for planning future adventures!

What would you do differently? What advice would you give to other couples who are considering a destination wedding?

Everyone says this, but truly DO NOT sweat the small stuff. Literally no one will notice the tiny things that went wrong along the way and if there is something that is an absolute must for you, speak up and dont be shy. It's your day and you deserve the wedding of your dreams. You can be firm in what you are looking for, without turning into the dreaded Bridezilla. Wherever you choose, join the social media groups for that location to get advice from those who went before you. If the vibe is off when you are looking for a company to partner with, WALK AWAY. You should feel special and attended to. There are many travel agencies out there and there is a reason Sunlover wins so many prestigious awards year over year.
