The “I do’s” are over and it is time to celebrate with your spouse. Your honeymoon is going to symbolize your new life together. It should be the trip of a lifetime. And it should be filled with adventures, new experiences, and intimacy. While I can help you plan the perfect honeymoon in the Caribbean, I won’t be able to help you pack your suitcases. What I can do though, is share exactly what to pack for a honeymoon in the Caribbean.

Essentials You Shouldn’t Forget

There are always a few essentials you will need to pack for any trip. This includes a honeymoon in the Caribbean.

Your essentials list includes:

• Driver’s License
• Passport
• Chargers for Your Phone and Other Electronic Devices
• Converter or Adapter for Electronic Plugs
• Credit Cards and Cash
• Prescriptions and Non-Prescription Medications
• Phone Numbers for your Credit Card, Health Insurance, Doctor, and Family Members
• Travel Information (Electronic and Paper Versions)

Pro Tip: I recommend making paper copies of important documents. These documents include driver’s license, passport, credit cards, health insurance card, prescriptions, and your travel itinerary. You can keep one in your carry-on bag and another in your suitcase. This will ensure if something gets lost, you have a backup version.

Carry-On Packing List for Your Honeymoon in the Caribbean

All your essentials should be packed in your carry-on bag. Since your carry-on bag will be with you at all times, you won’t need to worry about these items being missing if your luggage gets lost.

A few other items to toss into your carry-on bag include:

• Basic Toiletries (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Deodorant)
• Change of Clothes
• Travel Pillows and Sleep Masks
• E-Reader, Books, and Magazines for the Flight
• Sunglasses
• Hat

Clothing to Pack in Your Suitcase

Since you are honeymooning in the Caribbean, you will need clothing for warmer weather. So, lightweight clothes will be at the top of your list of what to pack for a honeymoon.

Men will want to pack shorts, a pair of dress pants, khakis, and maybe a pair of jeans. All the pants can be worn at night if the temperatures cool down enough.

Women should pack shorts, skirts, at least one sundress, and a pair of leggings. Casual shirts, t-shirts, and tank tops that match the bottoms should be on everyone’s list. Add in a light jacket for those cooler evenings.

Other clothing items you will need to pack include:

You won’t want to forget to pack your favorite toiletries for your honeymoon in the Caribbean. After all, you won’t want to stink or have snarly hair, because you forgot your deodorant or the only conditioner that works on your hair! The most important toiletries to pack in your suitcase include:

• Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash
• Razors and Shaving Cream
• Hair Brush
• Hairstyling Tools and Products
• Deodorant
• Lotion
• Makeup and Makeup Remover
• Tweezers
• Nail File
• Sunscreen
• Aloe

Miscellaneous Items to Pack

There are always a few miscellaneous items you will need to pack for a honeymoon in the Caribbean. A few of the items I recommend include:

• Plastic Bags (for Wet Bathing Suits)
• Small Backpack for Day Trips
• Beach or Pool Bag
• Beach Towels
• Stain Remover Pen
• Watersports Attire

What Not to Pack for a Honeymoon in the Caribbean

There are always a few items you should leave behind when you are traveling. However, one of these items jumps to the top of the list when you are on your honeymoon.

You should never take your work laptop with you on your honeymoon. You have more important things to do than check your work emails during this amazing trip with your spouse!

Other items to leave at home include:

• Expensive Jewelry
• Sentimental Items
• New Shoes

Tips for Packing for Your Honeymoon

Now that you know what you should, and should not, pack for your honeymoon in the Caribbean, you should be all set. Of course, you still need to decide which items of clothing you are packing. After all, even though you know you need a sundress or two, you may have no idea which ones to add to your packing list.

So, here are a few tips for effectively packing for your honeymoon in the Caribbean.

Do a Little Research

Once you know which resort you are staying at, you can do a little research to see which activities are offered each day. You can also find out if there is a dress code at the restaurants you plan to dine at.

Book Your Activities in Advance

Pack Before the Wedding

Do not leave packing for your honeymoon to the last minute! You are not going to want to leave your wedding reception knowing you still need to pack. That’s the last thing you will want to be doing on the first night as a married couple.

So, start packing your suitcase the week before. This way you can continue to add items as you think of them.

Consider Packing Cubes

Packing cubes can help you stay organized, as you pull things out of your luggage on your honeymoon. Plus, they allow you to use every inch of available space in your suitcase.

If you don’t want to invest in packing cubes, consider rolling your clothes. This will allow you to fit more and keep your clothing wrinkle-free.

Never Overpack

You are going to be so tempted to pack more than you will actually need for your honeymoon. Everyone does this, so do not think you are alone.

To avoid overpacking, I recommend making sure you know when you will wear every item you place in your suitcase. If an outfit, or pair of shoes, is uncomfortable or doesn't fit well, leave it home. You aren’t going to want to put anything on that doesn’t make you feel like a million bucks on your honeymoon.
