Why Choose St. Lucia for Your Destination Wedding?

Saint Lucia does something no other Caribbean island does quite the same way. It makes you feel it.

The twin Piton peaks rise straight out of the water like something from a dream, dramatic and ancient and completely unlike anything else in the Caribbean. The rainforest comes down to the shoreline. The volcanic landscape gives the island a texture and depth that flat, sandy destinations simply cannot match. And the light here, especially in the late afternoon when it hits the Pitons from the west, is the kind of light that makes every photograph look like it was staged.

Here is what I hear most often from my couples after their wedding week in Saint Lucia:

  • “It did not look real. We kept saying that.”
  • “Our guests had never seen anything like the Pitons. Everyone was speechless.”
  • “It felt intimate even with forty people there.”
  • “We thought Sandals Grande was going to be too big, but it felt personal the entire time.”

Saint Lucia delivers romance with visual drama. If your vision involves a ceremony backdrop that genuinely stops people in their tracks, this is your island.

The Two Coasts
of St Lucia

A wedding setting designed to reflect your vision

Saint Lucia is a relatively small island, but where your resort sits changes the entire character of your wedding week. Here is how I guide my couples

THE NORTH: Rodney Bay and Cap Estate

This is where most of my wedding couples land. The north coast is home to Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Halcyon, the island’s most established all-inclusive wedding venues. Hewanorra International Airport is in the south, so transfers to the north run approximately 90 minutes. That sounds like a lot, but the scenic drive along the west coast is genuinely beautiful and most guests do not mind it once they are on the island.

Best for: Couples who want the full all-inclusive resort experience, overwater suites, and a wide range of amenities for their guests.

THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST: Soufriere and the Pitons

This is the dramatic side of Saint Lucia. The Pitons are here. The volcanic mud baths at Sulphur Springs are here. Sugar Beach sits between the two peaks and is one of the most visually stunning resort settings in the entire Caribbean. The south is more remote, the pace is slower, and the scenery is unlike anything in the north.

Best for: Couples who want their ceremony backdrop to be the Pitons themselves, and who want an intimate, immersive experience over a large resort footprint.

RODNEY BAY VILLAGE AREA: Castries and Cap Estate

Sandals Regency La Toc sits just south of Castries, the island’s capital, tucked into a private cove with hillside suites and a sense of seclusion that feels worlds away from the main resort corridor. Close enough to access everything, private enough to feel like your own escape.

Best for: Couples who want a more boutique Sandals experience without sacrificing the full brand benefits.

My Picks for Saint Lucia Destination Wedding Resorts

These are the roperties I send my couples to, organized by the kind of wedding you are planning.

As the world’s top-producing Saint Lucia travel advisor and a Sandals Royal Chairman Platinum Elite advisor, I know these properties from the inside. I have relationships with the wedding teams, I know which room categories photograph best, and I know which property suits which couple before you finish describing your vision.

For Intimate Weddings (2 – 28 guests)

  • Sandals Halcyon Beach: The quietest and most relaxed of the Sandals Saint Lucia properties. Smaller scale, genuinely peaceful, and ideal for couples who want an intimate celebration without the energy of a larger resort. Ceremony settings here feel private in a way that is hard to find at bigger properties.
  • Sandals Regency La Toc: Tucked into a private hillside cove just outside Castries, La Toc has a secluded, almost hidden quality that my smaller wedding groups love. The tiered hillside suites give every room a view, and the beach cove feels like it belongs only to you.
  • Secrets St. Lucia: An adults-only Unlimited Luxury property that brings a more boutique, lifestyle-forward energy to Saint Lucia weddings. Excellent for couples who want something outside the Sandals brand with a strong sense of romance and a sophisticated atmosphere.

For Medium Weddings (30 – 60 guests)

  • Sandals Grande St. Lucian: The flagship Sandals property in Saint Lucia, and the one I book most often for mid-size wedding groups. Situated on a peninsula between the Caribbean Sea and Rodney Bay Lagoon, it offers overwater bungalows, a wide range of suite categories, and a wedding team that coordinates hundreds of ceremonies a year. The ceremony locations here are among the most beautiful in the Sandals portfolio.
  • Royalton Saint Lucia and Hideaway at Royalton: This dual-branded property gives you flexibility that single-brand resorts cannot match. The Hideaway is adults-only for your core wedding group, Royalton proper welcomes families, and the two share a stunning beachfront and facilities. Ideal when your guest list spans every life stage, from honeymooners to grandparents to kids.

For Larger Weddings (60+ guests)

  • Sandals Grande St. Lucian: At scale, Grande is still my first recommendation. The resort has the infrastructure, the restaurant variety, the suite inventory, and the coordination experience to handle larger groups without losing the personal feel. For groups above sixty, this is where I go first.
  • Royalton Saint Lucia: The full Royalton property, combined with Hideaway, gives you significant room block capacity and a range of room categories that work across different guest budgets. Larger groups often appreciate having non-adults-only options alongside the premium Hideaway experience.

What a St Lucia Destination Wedding
actually costs

The Honest Version.

Every couple deserves real numbers before they fall in love with a vision.

Many Saint Lucia all-inclusive resorts offer complimentary wedding packages when you or your guests meet minimum night stays. The complimentary package typically includes ceremony setup, an officiant, a small cake, and sparkling wine. Upgrades are where costs grow.

Rough guidance based on recent clients:

  • Couple-only wedding (legal or symbolic): Often complimentary with a qualifying stay, plus your travel costs. A week of travel typically runs $4,000 to $15,000 depending on resort tier.
  • Intimate wedding (10 to 28 guests): Plan for $5,000 to $25,000 in wedding-specific upgrades (welcome events, upgraded decor, photography, private receptions).
  • Medium wedding (30 to 60 guests): Plan for $10,000 to $40,000 in wedding-specific costs on top of travel.
  • Large wedding: Custom pricing. This is where working with me saves you real money, because I negotiate group benefits and concessions that are not available to the public.

Saint Lucia is a premium Caribbean destination, and pricing reflects that. But my couples consistently tell me the value they received, the setting, the service, and the experience their guests had, was worth every dollar. And most of them spent less than they would have on a traditional US wedding reception alone.

The Legal Side, simplified

Saint Lucia is one of the most straightforward Caribbean destinations for legal marriage.

Here is the condensed version.

  • No residency requirement. You do not need to be on island for any minimum period before your ceremony.
  • Documents needed: Valid passports, original or certified copies of birth certificates, a divorce decree if applicable, and a death certificate if widowed. Non-English documents require certified translations.
  • Application timing: Documents are submitted in advance through the resort wedding team, typically two to four weeks before the ceremony.
  • No blood test required.
  • Your marriage certificate is internationally recognized.

Legal requirements can shift. I confirm the current rules for every one of my couples and walk you through each document before anything is submitted. This is the kind of detail you should not have to figure out alone.

Why Your Saint Lucia Wedding Needs the World's #1 Saint Lucia travel advisor

A general travel agent or wedding coordinator can book you a room in Saint Lucia. That is not the same as getting it right.

Here is what working with me actually looks like.

  • #1 Saint Lucia travel advisor in the world. The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority’s Prime Minister’s Award for Exceptional Global Sales Performance by Revenue. One recipient. Me. That recognition comes with relationships, access, and resort-level trust that no directory listing can replicate.
  • Sandals Royal Chairman Platinum Elite status. Top five percent of Sandals advisors globally. Priority bookings, top access, and group benefits at every Sandals property in Saint Lucia.
  • Saint Lucia Tourist Board Top 25. One of only twenty-five advisors in the United States recognized by the Tourism Authority itself for consistent, high-quality production.
  • I know these properties from the inside. Not from brochures. From the wedding team conversations, the suite walkthroughs, the ceremony location evaluations, and the hundreds of couples I have sent to this island.
  • My services are free. I am compensated by the resorts. You pay nothing for my expertise, and you pay no more than booking direct. For group bookings, you often pay less.
  • I handle the logistics. Flights, transfers, rooming lists, special requests, guest communications, and timeline coordination with the resort wedding team. All of it.

If you are a busy professional who does not have time to become a Saint Lucia wedding expert yourself, that is exactly why I am here.

FAQs

Yes. Saint Lucia is one of the most straightforward Caribbean destinations for legal marriage, and the certificate is recognized internationally. There is no minimum residency requirement. You submit your documents through the resort ahead of time and marry on arrival. No blood test is required.

It depends on your guest count and the level of customization you want. Many resorts offer complimentary wedding packages with a qualifying stay. Intimate weddings of 10 to 30 guests generally see $5,000 to $15,000 in wedding-specific costs. Medium weddings of 30 to 70 guests range from $12,000 to $28,000. Large weddings are custom quoted, and this is where working with me as the world’s top-producing Saint Lucia advisor often saves couples the most money.

Ideally 12 to 18 months out. That gives you the best resort availability, wedding date selection, and room block inventory, and it gives your guests time to plan their travel. I have planned Saint Lucia weddings with shorter timelines successfully, but 12 to 18 months is the sweet spot.

Most guests fly into Hewanorra International Airport in the south and transfer to their resort. For north coast properties like Sandals Grande, transfers run approximately 90 minutes. Many of my couples arrange group transfers so guests arrive together. Direct flights are available from several major US cities, though connections through Miami, Charlotte, or New York are common depending on your guests’ departure cities.

Saint Lucia Sandals properties offer something the brand’s other island locations do not: the Piton backdrop. The natural drama of this island elevates every ceremony, every suite view, and every dinner setting in a way that a flat beach destination simply cannot replicate. Sandals Grande St. Lucian also offers overwater bungalows that rival anything in the South Pacific at a fraction of the price. It is genuinely special.

Yes, many resorts in St. Lucia offer comprehensive wedding packages that include ceremony setup, décor, coordination, and reception options. These packages simplify planning and often include access to experienced on site wedding coordinators who help manage every detail from start to finish.

The resort coordinator handles the wedding day itself. I handle everything leading up to it and everything around it. That includes flights, group rate negotiation, rooming lists, transfers, guest questions, dietary requests, and the hundred details that come up when your people are traveling internationally. My couples tell me they cannot imagine doing it without me. And I am free.

Absolutely. Secrets St. Lucia and Royalton Saint Lucia with Hideaway are both excellent options and I book them regularly. The right resort is the one that matches your vision, your guest count, and your budget. I will tell you honestly which one fits you best.
